Steffani Angel, a Sacramento native, 21,works as a artistic director, model, dancer, creator, and overall paintbrush for artists in the northern California area. Angel also works as the director for a creative collective called Occupant Space Movement, an activism based multi-media art collective, where she works as a lead organizer for events that showcase other local art from various passionates.

“Any art that is on the same ‘vibe’ as us is included- I mean, we have people who cook food, we have people who break dance, draw, play music, sing. My main role in the collective, overall, is coordination. Organization is my art form when it comes to putting together these events” says Angel.

The Movement set to create comfortable and alive environments such as parties and hang-outs where artist can get together, network, drink and eat, and create a community. “ Thats why we called it ‘Occupy Space Movement’ because we are creating a space for art. We want people to know that they have a right to occupy the same, shared space and celebrate the culture of Sacramento with other creative who are occupying the same, shared space.”

The Movement started as a group of creative individuals simply wanting to put on a art show that was space themed.

“ My friend, Aika Eden- she’s absolutely radiant and she attracts the best people, called us all one day and had a meeting where we discussed putting on this show and just creating a gathering of artist. We called it ‘Space Walk’.”

Angels describes her and the collective as “Aliens from the same Planet”: coming together from opposite backgrounds and pasts but striving for the same goal. “That’s why we identified with the space theme.” Angel laughs.

Outside Steffani’s involvement in the collective, she networks through Sacramento sharing her passion for art, directing, dancing, and modeling .

“One of my biggest inspirations for dancing is my dance teacher Lena Logan. She started, taught, and grew her own company called Contemporary Dance Conservatory and she taught me so much about dancing and how to be a good person and how to manifest what I want for myself.” Angel dedicates most of her inspiration and involvement in freelance dance and art to Lena who advised her to “Just fucking go for it. You don’t need a back up plan.”

Another inspiration of Angels is her friend Abril Torres who moved to Los Angeles to pursue her dancing career. “

She was always the head of the company and she’s so incredible.”

Modeling was never an art form Angel planned on having be a part of her personal brand. “ What I like about modeling are the bonds you create with people during a shoot. Because I never really thought about modeling, it really surprised me how close knit the community was and how many friends I made through this medium. There is something so rewarding about being the creative director of a shoot.”

Steffani enjoys not only being in front of the camera, but also directing and throwing out ideas for potential shots.

“ I want people to know that I mean business. I want to shoot for a purpose.”

“ Advice I have is that anything is possible if you have persistence. I will go to coffee shops, sit down, and force myself to work for hours. You know how Shia LaBeouf is like ‘JUST DO IT!’, that’s how I feel about everything and thats how I go about reaching my goals. Thing’s may not seem so obtainable at first, but just getting ourself out there and doing it bring you only that much closer.”

“ If you have a vision, just fucking do it.”
